GPD searching for Christmas Eve shooting suspect

UPDATE: Hoover has been arrested.

On December 24th, 2019 at approximately 11:00 am, GPD officers responded to reports of gunshots in the 1100 block of NE 28th Ave. Upon the officers’ arrival, several neighbors described a disturbance that occurred in the street between two groups of individuals; one group was in a truck, and the other was on foot. During the disturbance, one individual on foot pulled out a handgun and shot at the individuals in the truck; mutual gunfire ensued. Detectives have identified one of the suspects as Austin Hoover, W/M, DOB 11/14/00, and have obtained an arrest warrant for possession of a firearm and ammunition by a delinquent.

Detectives are asking for anyone with information regarding Hoover’s whereabouts to call the police. He is considered armed and dangerous. You can remain anonymous and receive a cash reward for information leading to his arrest by submitting tips to Crime Stoppers at www.stopcrime.tv.
