Press release from HCA Florida North Florida Hospital

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – HCA Florida North Florida Hospital, a part of HCA Florida Healthcare, is introducing the community to its latest advanced healthcare technology, the Intuitive da Vinci 5® robotic surgical system to enhance surgical outcomes. The hospital is hosting “Robot Night” to share this new technology and its advantages for patients with community leaders and medical professionals.

When: Tuesday, December 16, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

  • 7 p.m. – Welcome from hospital leadership and remarks from Dr. Francisco Macedo and Dr. Peter Sarantos, ribbon cutting to immediately follow

Where: HCA Florida North Florida Hospital, 6500 W Newberry Road, South Tower Conference Center (STCC), Gainesville, Florida 32605. The STCC is located near the main entrance of the hospital next to the ER.

HCA Florida North Florida Hospital’s newest robotic surgery platform is designed to further advance technology used in minimally invasive care. The advanced and integrated platform enables better outcomes and efficiency. This new technology offers:

  • Improved accuracy and precision for surgeons
  • Next-generation 3D display and image processing
  • Advanced data capabilities
  • Shorter hospital stays and faster recovery time for patients
  • Less surgical pain and fewer complications

This robotic system can be used for minimally invasive surgical procedures for surgical oncology, gynecology and general surgeries.

HCA Healthcare does more robotic-assisted surgery than any other healthcare system — with more than 1 million cases and growing — and our surgeons have led with several robotics “firsts” in the world over the last decade. In addition, we have developed one of the largest databases on robotics surgery. Our investment in technology, number of cases, and constant study of our data helps us deliver some of the most technologically advanced robotic-assisted surgical outcomes in healthcare.

Community members can pre-register for this free event here.

Free parking will be offered for attendees in the former O2B Kids parking lot adjacent to the hospital’s main entrance. Shuttle service will also be available.
