High Springs Fire Department reminds residents: Make sure your address is easy to find in an emergency
Press release from High Springs Fire Department
HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. — The High Springs Fire Department is urging residents and business owners to take a moment to check the visibility of their address numbers. During an emergency, every second matters, and clearly visible numbers can make a life-saving difference.
“When firefighters or law enforcement officers respond to a call, being able to locate the right address quickly is paramount,” said High Springs Fire Department Chief Joe Peters. “If we can’t find your house, we can’t help you.”
The department encourages everyone to take these simple steps to make their property easy to locate:
- Use large, reflective numbers (at least 6 inches in height) that are easy to read, both day and night.
- Place numbers on your mailbox and your home, especially if the structure is set back from the road.
- Keep numbers visible by trimming back trees, shrubs, or decorations that may block the view.
- For those in rural areas, consider installing a clearly marked post with your address at the end of your driveway.
Taking a few minutes now to ensure your address is clearly visible can save precious time in an emergency.
