HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. – High Springs Police Department is warning about sophisticated scams that involve video calls, fake package deliveries, and large sums of money.

Scammers are contacting victims through social media platforms and messaging apps, often pretending to be government officials, law enforcement, delivery services, or individuals offering financial opportunities. In several cases, victims have been convinced to send or transfer large amounts of money connected to supposed “packages,” “fees,” or “secure transactions.”

These scams are highly organized and may involve:

  • Video calls to appear legitimate
  • Fake tracking information or package delivery claims
  • Requests for cash, wire transfers, gift cards, or cryptocurrency
  • Threats, pressure tactics, or promises of financial gain

The High Springs Police Department is currently investigating two active cases involving thousands of dollars in losses related to these scams.

Please remember:

  • Never send money to someone you have not verified in person
  • Be cautious of unsolicited video calls or messages
  • Do not provide banking or personal information online
  • If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is

If you believe you may have been targeted or victimized, contact law enforcement immediately.
