High Springs Police Department partners with Cox to boost Operation Holiday Cheer

Press release from High Springs Police Department and Cox Communications

HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. Yesterday, representatives from Cox presented Police Chief J. Antoine Sheppard with 75 gift cards to support Operation Holiday Cheer. The $50 Walmart gift cards will be distributed through the Police Department’s annual holiday giving initiative to families in need of a little extra support this holiday season.

With the help of the community, the High Springs Police Department has been providing assistance through the Operation Holiday Cheer program for many years. Every year, the program works with local schools to identify candidates to receive the gifts.

“We would like to thank Cox and all of our community partners who help us provide support to those families in need,” said High Springs Police Chief J. Antoine Sheppard. “Through these valuable partnerships, we’re able to help so many of our local residents have a magical holiday season.”

In addition to the gift cards, Cox also fulfilled the wish list of a local 10-year-old and surprised his mother with a special gift.

“Cox is a family-owned business committed to helping improve the lives of those in our community,” said Aimee Pfannenstiel, Central Florida market vice president for Cox. “When we learned of the opportunity to help our neighbors through the High Springs Police Department’s Operation Holiday Cheer, it was an easy yes.”

Cox began expanding its services into High Springs in 2023, completing construction in August 2024. Now, nearly 2,000 homes have access to Cox’s fiber broadband network, with plans to reach more unserved communities in Central Florida in the near future.
