High Springs to host tree planting and giveaway for Florida’s Arbor Day

Press release from the City of High Springs
HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. – The City of High Springs Tree Advisory Board, in collaboration with the Alachua County Environmental Protection Department, High Springs Parks & R.E.C., and Santa Fe Tree Farm, will host a tree planting event and free distribution on Saturday, January 24, from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the High Springs Civic Center, located at 19107 NW 240th Street. This occasion is in commemoration of Florida’s Arbor Day.
Participants may receive a complimentary tree, subject to availability, and will have the opportunity to listen to presentations from several distinguished guest speakers and enjoy complimentary light refreshments.
“Trees add value to a community through shade, improved air quality, and reduction in run-off,” said Tree Advisory Board Chair Joanne Tremblay.
Officially, Florida’s Arbor Day is observed on the third Friday of January. Due to Florida’s climate, the cooler winter months are considered the most appropriate time for planting trees.
