Hippodrome Cinema announces February line-up featuring live performances, cult classics, and family entertainment

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Hippodrome Theatre’s Cinema program unveils a diverse and vibrant February schedule combining live music performances, theatrical broadcasts, family matinees, and critically acclaimed films. The month’s programming emphasizes unique entertainment experiences, from Prince’s iconic “Purple Rain” to avant-garde live scoring.

“February’s lineup exemplifies our commitment to unique, innovative programming,” says Adam Azoulay, Cinema Coordinator at the Hippodrome. “We’re especially excited about our Haptic Mass performance of Koyaanisqatsi, which transforms our cinema into an immersive audiovisual experience.”

SPECIAL EVENTS:

  • Cocktails & Classics: Purple Rain (R) – February 8, 7:30 p.m. Experience Prince’s electrifying musical drama on the big screen with a custom purple cocktail for a night of 80s nostalgia.
  • Koyaanisqatsi Live! – February 20, 7:30 p.m. Haptic Mass performs an original score to this landmark experimental film.
  • National Theatre Live: The Importance of Being Earnest – February 23, 2:30 p.m. Experience the acclaimed stage production of Oscar Wilde’s comedy, streamed directly from London’s National Theatre.
