Hippodrome’s Art Gallery unveils captivating exhibition by Florida-based painter, Josiah Lloyd

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Hippodrome’s Art Gallery is thrilled to present a remarkable exhibition featuring the works of Florida-based painter, Josiah Lloyd. Despite working in different mediums, Lloyd’s exhibition will only be showcasing paintings.

Josiah Lloyd has spent several years cultivating a powerful body of work that draws inspiration from different art practices. His artistic evolution into painting has been a journey marked by a keen focus on detail, a fusion of mediums, and a commitment to abstraction. The result is a collection of pieces that stand as a testament to Lloyd’s unique perspective on memory, visual language, and the interplay between them.

Lloyd’s paintings invite viewers to engage in the act of seeing through the lens of memory. The meticulous placement of layers of tape throughout the painting, lifted later to reveal earlier marks, adds a temporal dimension, conveying a sense of time within the artwork.
