GAINESVILLE, Fla. – David Thomas, Gainesville Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) President, and Nancy Briles, Gainesville FL Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Honorary Chapter Regent both honored U.S. Veterans at the December 16, 2023 Wreaths Across America.

Also, entries for the George and Stella Knight Essay Contest from the Sons of the American Revolution are due by the end of December 2023; more information is available here. Last year, Rachel Xu from Eastside High School earned third place in the state, and the organization hopes local students will enter this year’s competition.

The two organizations have much in common, especially the mission to honor and assist veterans, and laying wreaths on the final resting places of our service men and women certainly qualify.
