Press release from Alachua County Fire Rescue
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – At 1:44 p.m. on November 19, Alachua County Fire Rescue received a call for a house fire from a citizen who said his neighbor’s house was on fire. The neighbors tried to extinguish the fire with a garden hose prior to fire department arrival.
Crews from High Springs, Newberry, LaCrosse, and Alachua County Fire Rescue responded. Due to the significant burn time in the home prior to anyone noticing the fire, it was very advanced when fire crews arrived, burning through the roof on the rear of the structure. There was no one home at the time of the fire. The house and all its contents were destroyed.
