How to get alerts for Alachua Chronicle stories

BY JENNIFER CABRERA

During this period when the COVID-19 situation is changing rapidly, you may want alerts when we post new stories. We don’t have an app (that would take a lot more funding than we currently have!), but you can set up Twitter to alert you when we post a story.

Even if you’re not a “Twitter person,” this is easy to do.

  1. On your desktop, go to https://twitter.com, sign up for an account, and search for “Alachua Chronicle” AND/OR
  2. Download the Twitter app for iPhone or Android (search the app store on your phone), sign up for an account, and search for “Alachua Chronicle.”

The search can be a little tricky. If you don’t see our account (@AlachuaChronic1) in the results, go to the “People” tab:

Tap the “Follow” button, then AFTER it says “Following,” you’ll see a button with a bell icon. Tap that to get alerts and select “All Tweets” if the app asks you which Tweets you want notifications for.

Now you’ll get pop-ups on your phone and/or computer (if it’s on) when we post stories. Tap on the notification to open Twitter, see the headline, and tap on the link to go to the website. You don’t need to do anything else with Twitter or even understand how it works.

If you want to stop the notifications, just tap the bell icon again.

If you need help, drop us an email at info@alachuachronicle.com. We are working hard to push stories out as soon as we get new information.
