Island Grove residential fire contained to the kitchen

At 3:09 p.m. this afternoon, Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR), along with units from Cross Creek Fire Department and Micanopy Fire Department, responded to a residential structure fire in Island Grove. Upon arrival, crews reported heavy smoke coming from all sides of the house. ACFR Crews were able to make a quick attack on the fire and contain it to the kitchen. Due to firefighting efforts, CR 325 was shut down just west of US 301 for about 2 hours. No one was injured in the fire.

ACFR reminds you to never leave food cooking unattended. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
