Jasper woman killed in I-75 crash in Alachua County

Staff report

ALACHUA, Fla. – A 29-year-old Jasper woman was killed last night on I-75, just north of the Alachua exit.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a sedan northbound in the right lane of I-75 at about 2:05 a.m. this morning, slightly ahead of a tractor-trailer in the center lane. The sedan abruptly cut across the lanes in an attempt to get to the inside median, where there was a separate crash. As the sedan crossed the lanes toward the left, it drove directly into the path of the tractor-trailer, and the right front of the tractor-trailer hit the sedan. The woman, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
