Press release from Jennifer Blalock for Alachua City Commission Seat 5
ALACHUA, Fla. – Jennifer Blalock has announced her bid for re-election to Seat 5 of the Alachua City Commission. She has proudly served her friends and neighbors in this position since being elected in May 2021.
Jennifer has called Alachua home for more than 20 years. It is where she raised her children, built lifelong friendships, and spent the last 21 years as a leader in early childhood education. From supporting local schools and youth sports to volunteering with various community organizations, her life has been dedicated to serving the people of Alachua.
In her first term, she delivered in key areas to strengthen Alachua communities such as enhancing high-quality education, expanding recreational programs for all ages, and driving economic development. She serves on the Education Task Force, the Affordable Housing Committee, and previously served as vice mayor.
Blalock is focused on building upon this work in the future. She is committed to advancing initiatives that empower small businesses, prioritizing government transparency and communication, and significantly boosting resources for local law enforcement.
A cornerstone of Blalock’s leadership is being a voice for all people in the city of Alachua by collaborating with residents from all walks of life. “The City of Alachua is special to me for many reasons, but most of all it’s the people here that truly make this the Good Life Community,” Blalock said.
She believes that the people of Alachua represent the best of North Central Florida and everyone’s voice must be heard to work together toward a bright future.
“We live in a time when the day-to-day grind distracts us from what matters in life. Deepening bonds with our loved ones, helping our neighbors in the community, and empowering our kids to be productive citizens of the world – that’s what truly matters,” Blalock said. “The Good Life Community shines in those areas, and I will work tirelessly to ensure this remains the case for ALL citizens of Alachua.”
