Jimmy Carnes Indoor Track & Field Invitational to be held Jan. 17-19

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Jimmy Carnes Indoor Track & Field Invitational will be held January 17-19 at the Alachua County Sports & Events Center, Celebration Pointe.

Exceptional athletes from universities, high schools, and youth divisions will appear in this annual competition.

The event honors the memory of Jimmy Carnes, a legendary track and field figure in the region and nationally. His accomplishments included his exemplary role as UF’s track and field coach from 1964 to 1976 and head coach of the 1980 U.S. Olympic Track & Field Team. He passed away from cancer in 2011.
