Kiwanis Challenge Park is open to the public

Press release from City of Gainesville
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The City of Gainesville’s Wild Spaces & Public Places Department and the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs are pleased to announce construction at Kiwanis Challenge Park is nearing completion and the park, located at 2002 NW 36th Ave., is open to the public.
Work completed at the park included resurfacing the track; removing the asphalt walkways, a concrete long jump course, and the shot put cage; and installing concrete pads to accommodate two ADA-compliant picnic tables and six benches.
Please note that the striping of the track will occur in approximately 30 days to allow the asphalt to cure. Additionally, the picnic tables and benches will be placed in the park in the next few days.
AKEA Inc. was awarded the work through a competitive bid process for $246,000, funded by the Wild Spaces and Public Places half-cent sales tax.
