Local gymnast earns three first-place medals in State Championship

ARCHER/NEWBERRY, Fla. – Nine-year-old Claire Swanson, a rising star in the world of gymnastics, achieved remarkable success at the USAG Level 5 State Championship held on December 7, 2024, in Miami, Florida.
Competing against top gymnasts from across the state, Claire Swanson earned first-place finishes in three individual events in her age division:
- Bars: 9.550
- Floor: 9.575
- Vault: 9.525
Her exceptional performance across all events secured her a total score of 37.400, earning her the prestigious ranking of #3 in Florida for All-Around in her division.
Claire’s achievements are a testament to her dedication, discipline, and passion for the sport. With countless hours of training, her consistency and poise under pressure have distinguished her as one of Florida’s most promising young gymnasts.
“Watching Claire perform with such grace and confidence was inspiring,” said Peter Emery, her coach at Sun Country Gymnastics. ”Her first-place finishes and all-around ranking are well-deserved, and I’m excited to see what she’ll accomplish next.”
This championship marks a significant milestone in Claire’s gymnastics career, showcasing her potential for continued success at the state and national levels. Her commitment to excellence, both in the gym and as a role model to her peers, has made her a source of pride for the Archer community. Claire attends Archer Elementary School, where she is in the Gifted and Talented Magnet program. She also takes ballet and jazz classes at Cameron Dancenter in Gainesville, FL.
Claire Swanson is already preparing for her next challenges as she continues her journey in competitive gymnastics in Level 7. Her accomplishments at the USAG Level 5 State Championship are just the beginning of what promises to be a bright future in the sport.
