Local junior golfer Ian Lentz qualifies for the Notah Begay III Jr. National Championship

Press release from Ian Lentz

Rising PK Yonge junior Ian Lentz won the Notah Begay III Georgia Regional Qualifier, which was held on June 30 and July 1, 2021, at the Woodlands Golf Course at Chateau Elan Golf Club in Braselton, GA.

Lentz competed against 42 junior golfers from across the Southeast. After round one, he found himself in the solo lead, firing an even par round of 72. Day two proved to be a little more of a challenge, shooting a two-over-par 74, but he still came out on top after his only birdie of the day came in a one-hole playoff when he sunk a 5-foot birdie putt to win.

Lentz secured himself a spot in the National Championship, which will be held in Louisiana at  Koasati Pines At Coushatta Golf Course November 13-15.  Coverage of the 54-hole event will be featured on the Golf Channel.

Lentz has been playing competitive golf across the state of Florida and the Southeast for six years. He has played on the Varsity Golf team for PK since his 6th grade year and is currently ranked 28th in the state by Junior Golf Scoreboard for all Class of 2023 graduates.
