Local Junior Golfer Places 3rd at the Notah Begay III Jr. Golf National Championship and Will be on The Golf Channel

PK Yonge Junior Ian Lentz recently traveled to Kinder, LA, and placed third in the Notah Begay III Jr. Golf National Championship at Koasati Pines Golf Course November 13-15, 2021. Lentz qualified for the National Championship in July when he won the Georgia Regional Qualifier at the Woodlands Golf Course at Chateau Elan Golf Club in Braselton, GA.

Lentz competed against 55 junior golfers from across the United States and finished third at 10 under par for the 54 hole event. After round one, he found himself tied for the lead, firing a 3 under par 69. Day two, he shot 2 under par (70), and on the final round shot an impressive 5 under par (67), coming up just two strokes shy of the leader. Lentz was one of only two players in the field to shoot all three rounds under par. 

The Notah Begay III National Championship will be featured on the Golf Channel on Wednesday, December 8, from 7-9 p.m. 

Lentz has been playing competitive golf across the state of Florida and the Southeast for six years. He has played on the Varsity Golf team for PK Yonge since his 6th-grade year and is currently ranked 22nd in the state for all Class of 2023 graduates. He is also dual enrolled at Santa Fe College and maintains a 4.39 weighted GPA.
