Local neurosurgeon wins Florida Medical Association award

Press release from Dr. Steven Reid

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Medical Association awarded local neurosurgeon, Dr. Steven Reid, their prestigious Certificate of Appreciation at their 2026 annual meeting.

Dr. Reid started the nonprofit Doctor Lifeline to address the crisis of doctor and healthcare worker suicides. Approximately 1 million patients lose at least one of their doctors to suicide each year. Florida is anticipated to have the second-worst doctor shortage in the country by 2030. Doctor Lifeline focuses on correcting toxic practice environments and eliminating the stigma against seeking help through education, counseling, and outreach.
