March 19 evening update: One new COVID-19 case in Alachua County

A 27-year-old female, who had recently traveled to the Dominican Republic, has tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases in Alachua County to 11.

There are now 432 cases in the state, an increase of 104 in the past day. There have been 9 deaths in Florida.

Those with questions or concerns about COVID-19, including testing, should call their doctor or the Alachua County Health Department’s call center at 352-334-8810. Operators are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday (after hours call 352-334-7900). The County’s 311 hotline is also available to answer questions.
