March 26 morning update: 49 cases in Alachua County


According to the state dashboard, Alachua County now has 49 COVID-19-positive cases, up from 45 yesterday morning. No deaths have been reported. 5 people are hospitalized. The average age of those who have tested positive in the county is 42.

The state has 2355 cases (an increase of 673 from this time yesterday and 378 from yesterday evening; remember that testing volume has increased significantly) and 28 deaths (up 6 from yesterday morning and up 5 from yesterday evening). The most recent deaths were in Clay, Hillsborough, and Orange counties.

32 COVID-19 tests are pending in Alachua County. 894 people have been tested so far in Alachua County, and 813 tests have come back negative, so 90.9% of the tests so far have been negative (3.5% are pending). Only 5.4% of the local tests have come back positive so far.

According to the daily report (note that the data in that report and the dashboard don’t always match up because they are published at different times), there are 37 cases in Gainesville, 3 in Newberry, 2 in Tioga, 2 in Micanopy, 1 in Alachua, and 1 in High Springs.
