BY JENNIFER CABRERA

According to the stateĀ dashboard, Alachua County now has 80 COVID-19-positive cases, up from 72 at this time yesterday. No deaths have been reported. 11 people have been hospitalized.

The state has 5704 cases (an increase of 754 from this time yesterday; remember that testing volume has increased significantly) and 71 deaths (up from 63 yesterday).

51% of the stateā€™s cases are in Broward and Miami-Dade counties, and another 8% are in Palm Beach County. Governor DeSantis issued a ā€œsafer-at-homeā€ order this morning for those three counties plus Monroe County. The order is through mid-May.

16 COVID-19 tests are pending in Alachua County. 1327 people have been tested so far in Alachua County, and 1230 tests have come back negative, so 92.7% of the tests so far have been negative (1.2% are pending). Only 6% of the local tests have come back positive so far.

According to theĀ daily reportĀ (note that the data in that report and the dashboard donā€™t always match up because they are published at different times), there are 61 cases in Gainesville, 5 in Alachua, 4 in Newberry, 2 in Tioga, 2 in Micanopy, and 1 in High Springs. Location data is not available for all cases.
