Matheson History Museum presents ‘History of the death care industry in Alachua County’ with Don Davis

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Join local historian Don Davis and a panel of local funeral home industry leaders for a unique presentation on the history of the death care industry in Alachua County. Learn about the county’s many funeral homes and cemeteries and how the industry has changed over the years.

WHEN: October 29 at 7 p.m. | Free with registration

Don Davis is also creating a mini-exhibit about the death care industry for the Matheson History Museum. He is looking for funeral memorabilia such as small logo items, pictures, publications, land personal stories. Don Davis

Don Davis, former banker with Capital City Bank of Gainesville, moved to Gainesville in 1965. He graduated from Gainesville High School and the University of Florida and enjoys researching and writing about local business and industry history. Davis is also a past President of the Matheson History Museum’s Board of Directors. He has been rowing competitively with the Gainesville Area Rowing club since 2012.
