Mi Apa Latin Cafe invites fans to celebrate groundbreaking of new building in Alachua
Press release from Mi Apa Latin Cafe
ALACHUA, Fla. – After several successful expansions, including a Jonesville store, a location in the Reitz Union on the University of Florida’s campus, a food truck, and most recently a location in the Oaks Mall food court, Mi Apa Latin Cafe is growing again!
Groundbreaking for the next big move is happening on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 10 a.m., and Mi Apa wants to invite you to celebrate. The Mi Apa location in the city of Alachua is relocating to a bigger building with more accessible parking and a drive-thru window. You can find the same great Mi Apa food and coffee as you always have, now at 14829 NW 157th Ln.
The new building, being built by Ben-Mar, will have 3,000 square feet of space, including a dining room for 110 guests, and a drive-thru window, perfect for coffee drinkers, I-75 travelers, and Alachua residents on the go.
“We are excited to break ground at the new location and excited to celebrate with the city of Alachua,” says Peter Ynigo, founder of Mi Apa Latin Cafe, “Our guests have always been loyal, and the one thing they’ve always asked for is a drive-thru, so now they can get their morning coffee and lunch sandwiches easier and faster. To be able to celebrate the milestone with them at the groundbreaking is a dream come true.”
The groundbreaking ceremony will be held on-site and feature speeches from local and state dignitaries, business leaders, and Mi Apa’s hardworking team. Coffee and samples from their award-winning menu will also be served.
Mi Apa Latin Cafe’s first store, located in the West Gate Shopping Center on the corner of 34th St and University Ave., has thrived since opening in 2003, as has the Jonesville store on W. Newberry Rd and the existing location in Alachua. Since 2021, Mi Apa has offered lunch options at the Reitz Union on UF’s campus, making it even easier for students to grab a great Cuban sandwich or a cup of Cuban coffee on the way to class. Recent additions of the Oaks Mall food court store and the food truck will enable Mi Apa to expand its reach and participate in even more community events.
