Momentous May for the Cade Museum: 5th Anniversary and New Exhibits Abound!

Press release from the Cade Museum

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Cade Museum for Creativity and Invention is turning five years old! Since its opening in 2018, the Cade has continued to “invent possible” for curious minds of all ages throughout Alachua County and beyond. To celebrate this momentous occasion, the Cade Museum is hosting a special birthday-themed Cade After Dark Family Fun Night on Friday, May 19 at 5:00 p.m.

Families can enjoy a cash bar, face painter, balloon artist, and even a petting zoo, in addition to our normal museum programming. Adult tickets are $15 and include one free alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverage, while children are free for this event entirely.

During our eventful birthday weekend, guests can take the opportunity to explore and enjoy our newest traveling exhibit, Leonardo da Vinci: Machines in Motion, which will be on display in the museum until January 2024.

This unique hands-on experience allows guests to discover and interact with 40 full-scale machines that were built after an in-depth study of Leonardo da Vinci’s designs by a group of scientists and skilled craftsmen in Florence, Italy. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that many of the mechanisms are life-sized and fully operational.

The Cade Museum is also happy to announce the opening of our new theme, Playing with Sound, on Thursday, May 25, where visitors can embark on a journey through music, creativity, and fun. With our main rotunda exhibit, Music and the Mind: A Medley of Innovation, one can investigate how music impacts the brain both creatively and physically.

May is just the beginning of this musically-themed summer of fun! Stay tuned for more information on our next exhibition coming to the Cade Museum in July 2023.
