New name, bigger impact: Crime Stoppers of North Central Florida launches with first $5,000 reward

Press release from Crime Stoppers of North Central Florida
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Alachua County Crime Stoppers, a trusted community partner for over 40 years, is proud to announce its official rebranding to Crime Stoppers of North Central Florida.
Along with this exciting name change, the organization is significantly increasing its maximum reward from $1,000 to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest in capital murder cases. This powerful combination reflects both the organization’s regional growth and its stronger commitment to solving serious crimes and supporting law enforcement.
Originally founded in 1982 as Crime Trac Inc., the organization has served Alachua County for 44 years. The new name, Crime Stoppers of North Central Florida, reflects its increased regional footprint, which has long included Levy and Gilchrist counties, while continuing its long-standing mission of empowering residents to fight crime anonymously.
First $5,000 Reward Awarded
Crime Stoppers of North Central Florida has already paid its first $5,000 reward for a tip that led to the swift apprehension of Henri Hart, aka “Hitman,” who is now facing charges in the May 10th stabbing homicide of Ricky Morrow. This successful outcome demonstrates the immediate impact of the increased reward level.
New Maximum Reward Level
The new $5,000 maximum reward primarily applies to capital murder cases, with significant increases across all reward categories. This enhancement demonstrates the organization’s strong commitment to recognizing brave citizens who come forward with information, helping deliver justice to victims and their families.
