Jim Calvin Carroll, 33, was arrested yesterday after the Department of Children and Families reported the sexual abuse of a 7-year-old child on November 23.
The victim was interviewed by the Child Protective Team of Alachua Sheriff’s Office on December 4, and the victim described at least five incidents involving her sister’s father (Carroll).
Although Carroll is not the biological father of the victim, she was in his care at the time of the incidents. The victim’s 12-year-old sister said that she, the victim, and a brother were in the defendant’s care between March and July of this year, and Carroll was in both his bedroom and the victim’s bedroom “on different occasions, with the door locked.”
Post Miranda, Carroll denied the allegations but admitted having slept with the victim in her bed.
When Carroll was arrested, he was asked to stand up to be placed in handcuffs. He stood up, said “No,” and retreated back into the residence. He was then placed on the ground and eventually handcuffed.
Carroll has been charged with Custodial Sexual Battery on a child less than 12 years of age and two charges of Lewd and Lascivious Molestation, along with a charge of resisting arrest without violence.
