Overnight closures at intersection of NW 39th Avenue and U.S. 441/SW 13th Street planned for Sept. 24 – Oct. 9

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – As part of an intersection improvement project on NW 39th Avenue, nightly closures and detours are planned at the intersection of NW 39th Avenue (State Road 222) and U.S. 441/SW 13th Street from Wednesday, Sept. 24, through Thursday, Oct. 9, with work occurring Sunday through Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting. No lane closures will be allowed between the hours of 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
Electronic message boards will be placed near the intersection to alert drivers of upcoming lane closures and detours. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra time, follow posted detour signs, and use caution in the work zones.
Eastbound 39th Avenue to Northbound 13th Street Left Turn Lane closed: Drivers will detour via northbound NW 6th Street to NW 53rd Avenue and make a U-turn to access NW 13th Street.
Westbound 39th Avenue to Southbound 13th Street Left Turn Lane Closed: Drivers will detour via northbound NW 13th Street and take NW 6th Street southbound to NW 23rd Avenue to reconnect with NW 13th Street.
Preferred Materials Inc. was selected to complete the $4.9 million interchange improvement and resurfacing project by winter 2025, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting.
