Passenger extricated from accident near Newnans Lake

At approximately 10:00 this morning, units from Alachua County Fire Rescue and the Windsor Fire Department responded to a vehicle accident at the intersection of State Road 26 and NE 119th Terrace. Units found a two-vehicle accident with one patient entrapped in a pickup truck.

Crews utilized extrication tools, commonly referred to as the Jaws of Life, to remove the patient from the vehicle. Crews were able to remove the patient in less than ten minutes and transported the patient to UF Health Shands as a trauma alert.
The driver of the second vehicle was also transported to UF Health Shands by Alachua County Fire Rescue. The crash is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. Alachua County Fire Rescue would like to remind all drivers to always wear your seatbelt.
