Pastor Adam Joy announces Spring Break food distribution for tri-city area Alachua County families

Press release from Deeper Purpose Community Church

ALACHUA, Fla. – God placed it on our hearts to provide healthy snacks and food to area families whose children will be out on Spring Break after next week. We know that many students and families depend on the food that’s provided while children are at school, and we want to get needed food to families that could use it during this time.

We will be set up in ALACHUA at Irby Elementary School (13505 NW 140th St.) on Saturday, August 14, starting at 9 a.m., and we will stay until all the food is gone.

Our target geographical areas are families with children that reside in Alachua, High Springs, and Newberry, due to the limited resources in our rural areas on this side of the county. However, any family with children that lives in Alachua County will be able to receive extra food and snacks for your family, while supplies last.

To help ensure that the food is going to families with children in the household that live in Alachua County, an adult present will need to:

  • Have photo ID showing an Alachua County address.
  • Also have a child or children present with you OR any type of proof that you have a child(ren) in the home.

This will be a park-and-walk-up event, but we will have volunteers for those who need help getting back to their car. We will have a check-in table and will get everyone in and out as quickly as possible.

Our goal is to feed 1,000 kids in our area for Spring Break. We plan to have food for at least 300 families and understand that most families have 2-4 children.

There will be fresh fruit, bread, heat & eat meals, easy-open meals for kids, snacks, healthy snacks, drinks, breakfast items, lunch items, and dinner items.

We’d like to thank Feeding Northeast Florida & Bread of the Mighty Food Bank for their support and help with putting together bags, as well as High Springs Winn Dixie, Newberry Publix, Hunters Crossing Publix, Walmart, and those who support Deeper Purpose Ministries. Special thanks to Irby Elementary Principal Holly Burton, who generously approved for us to use the outside of the school to meet this need.

Note: All items are and will be in different quantities, so it is not guaranteed that every family will get the exact same items, but all families will get the same amount of items.
