Updated: pedestrian killed in SW 34th Street hit-and-run

A 21-year-old man was hit by an SUV at about 6:40 p.m. this evening in the 3600 block of SW 34th Street, transported to the hospital as a trauma alert, and pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The man was walking on the sidewalk when a southbound vehicle left the roadway and hit him. The vehicle and driver have been identified by Gainesville Police Department, and the investigation is ongoing.
