Pedestrian killed on 441 in City of Alachua

A 47-year-old Alachua man was struck by a car and killed early today on US 441 in Alachua.

According to a release from Florida Highway Patrol, a 38-year-old man driving a sedan was traveling south on US 441 at 12:30 a.m., approaching NW 147th Dr. The pedestrian was in the left southbound lane, and the driver saw the man too late to take evasive action. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene by Alachua County Fire Rescue.
