Pedestrian killed on I-75 near Archer Road

According to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a pedestrian was walking in the southbound inside lane of I-75 near Mile Marker 284 last night around 8:30 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle traveling southbound.

The driver of the vehicle was unable to see the pedestrian on the unlighted roadway in time to avoid the collision. The driver of that vehicle sustained minor injuries. A pickup truck traveling behind the first vehicle hit debris from the first vehicle and was damaged, but the driver was not injured. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The pedestrian is listed as a 51-year-old male but was not identified, pending notification of next of kin. No charges are expected to be filed.
