ALACHUA, Fla. – This afternoon, crews from multiple agencies worked to contain a 10-acre brush fire that threatened three houses off of NW 94th Avenue.

At about 3 p.m. on January 7, crews from Alachua County Fire Rescue and Newberry Fire Rescue responded to a brush fire near NW 94th Avenue and NW 170th Street and found a grass fire moving north and east across multiple properties, threatening three nearby houses.

Crews acted quickly, using brush trucks and hand tools to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to any homes.

Alachua County Fire Rescue would like to remind everyone to follow the state guidelines whenever burning yard debris. Never burn on windy days, and refrain from burning yard waste during dry weather.
