MICANOPY, Fla. – At 5:35 p.m., crews from Micanopy Fire Department, Cross Creek Fire Department, Alachua County Fire Rescue, and Windsor Fire Department were dispatched to a report of a residential building fire in the 18000 block of SE 75th Street.
Micanopy Fire was first on scene and found a doublewide mobile home approximately 75% engulfed in flames. The residents were home when the fire started and were able to get out safely; one family pet is still unaccounted for.
Since there are no fire hydrants in the area, water had to be shuttled in using tanker trucks. It took crews about an hour to completely extinguish the fire. The house was a total loss.
The Red Cross was called to assist the residents. The cause of the fire is under investigation.Â
