Compass Records Group recording artist Pierce Pettis has traveled a remarkable musical road. A native of Alabama, he launched his career at the legendary Muscle Shoals Sound Studios before contributing to New York’s influential Fast Folk Musical Magazine, recording for Windham Hill/High Street Records in Los Angeles, and spending a decade in Nashville as a staff songwriter for PolyGram and Universal Music Publishing.

Along the way, Pettis has earned a reputation as one of America’s finest songwriters. His compositions have been recorded by artists as diverse as Dion, Art Garfunkel, Garth Brooks, and Joan Baez, as well as David Wilcox, Tim O’Brien, Dar Williams, and Claire Lynch, among many others.

His most recent album, Father’s Son, released by Compass Records in 2019, received widespread critical acclaim in the US & abroad for its lyrical depth and masterful songwriting.

Now, Pierce returns to Heartwood Soundstage, bringing with him a wealth of new songs alongside favorites drawn from his six Compass Records releases. Audiences can expect an evening of unforgettable storytelling, finely crafted lyrics, and the distinctive artistry that has made Pettis a beloved figure in contemporary folk and Americana music.
