Poe Springs Plein Air Paint-Out Call to Artists
Press release from Alachua County
HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. – The Alachua County Environmental Protection Department invites artists to participate in the Poe Springs Plein Air Paint-Out event during the inaugural Santa Fe Springs Celebration at Poe Springs on April 27, 2024. There are no fees to participate or commission fees, just a great opportunity to paint, exhibit, sell work, and have fun. The event includes live music, educational exhibits, vendors, food trucks, a beer garden, and more. Artists must bring their table, equipment, chairs, and tent (if needed), and we will bring the crowds.Â
This free event is sponsored by The Florida Springs Council, Alachua County Environmental Protection Department, Visit Gainesville, the Fish and Wildlife Foundation of Florida, and First Magnitude Brewery.
For the paint-out, artists may pick their spot and start working ahead of the event. This could be a few days or even weeks. We ask that they be onsite to paint (finish) their work the day of the event so that people can see them in action. Midway through the Celebration event (see schedule below), we’ll have the paint-out artists bring their finished work to the covered porch area of the Poe Springs Lodge (onsite) and display it to the public. We ask that all paint-out artists be present for the showing to discuss their work and vision.
