Pofahl Studios announces 70th annual student recital

Press release from Dance Alive National Ballet

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – It’s pretty amazing to have a business going into its 71th year, but that is just what Pofahl Studios is doing! Starting in 1956, the school, which has trained three generations of Alachua County dancers, is presenting Honoring Our Past …Celebrating Our Future. DANB’s Resident School, Pofahl Studios, dances into Spring and Summer with students displaying a year’s worth of work doing what they love.

This recital will be a reflection of 70 years of classes — from starting at The American Legion Hall (now the Matheson History Museum) to a studio on Main Street (where Holy Trinity has their school) to the present studio on 2nd Street, while we eagerly look forward to our new home – The Khoury Family Center for the Performing Arts.

WHAT:  Honoring Our Past…Celebrating Our Future

WHEN:  May 24th at 2:00 PM

WHERE: Curtis M. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts – Gainesville

TICKETS:  Box Office 352-392-2787, https://performingarts.ufl.edu/events/pofahl-studios-summer-recital-2026-celebrate/

Graduating seniors featured in the program include Irma Impink (UF on scholarship), Bryana Robinson (FAMU), Leo Cuevas (Santa Fe), Leah Perine (UF), and Lydia Pignato (UNF)

Dance Alive National Ballet Principal Stirling Kolb will dance the role of Basilio with DANB Corp de Ballet member Victor Mancuso appearing in two numbers.

As usual, audience favorites promise to be the pre-ballet classes of 3- and 4-year-olds. You can always expect the unexpected with this age group! You will LOVE the Step In Time featuring 3 of our amazing tap guys. Sure to be appreciated, a featured performance of 32 dancers in the opening number, Fanfare. Another audience favorite, “The Family Dance,” where dancers and family members take the stage – showcasing their talent and finishing with an enthusiastic kick line.

The faculty, all members of DANB, and dancers promise you an entertaining show from beginning to end. Classical and neo-classical ballet, contemporary, acrobatics, hip-hop, tap, jazz – from pre-ballet to pre-professional… this show has it all.
