Public Meeting on Little Lake Santa Fe Preserve Management Plan

ALACHUA COUNTY, FL – The Alachua County Office of Land Conservation and Management’s Alachua County Forever Program will host a public meeting on Thursday, July 14, 2022, to discuss the proposed Management Plan for Little Lake Santa Fe Preserve, located east of Waldo. The meeting is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Waldo City Square (former Waldo Community School at 14450 N.E. 148th Avenue, Waldo).

This public meeting will provide citizens the opportunity to learn about the proposed Management Plans for the Preserve, including the maintenance and restoration of the natural communities, invasive exotic plant management strategies, use of prescribed fire, potential forest resource management strategies, future public access, and more.

Little Lake Santa Fe Preserve is a 69-acre nature preserve located in northeast Alachua County, along the west shore of Little Lake Santa Fe, on NE 132nd Ave in Waldo. The State of Florida purchased the preserve on March 4, 2021. Alachua County entered into a 50-year lease with the State to manage the Preserve on October 26, 2021. Under the terms of the lease agreement, Alachua County is responsible for protecting the natural and historical resources of the site and providing resource-based public outdoor recreation activities and education compatible with the land’s conservation and protection.
