Public schools, UF, Santa Fe will all reopen on Friday

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. – Alachua County public schools and district offices will be OPEN and resuming normal operations tomorrow, Friday, October 11. Power is out at this time at Archer Elementary School, but the district expects that it will be restored later today.

University of Florida

The University of Florida will return to normal operating status effective at 12:01 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11. Classes and all academic and student-related activities, including online classes, will resume as well.

P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School and Baby Gator also will resume their normal schedules on Friday.

Students, including online students, who were affected by the storm or whose families were affected should contact their instructors regarding accommodations for course work or exams. Employees affected by the storm, including those still recovering from Hurricane Milton, are encouraged to speak to their supervisors regarding their specific circumstances.

UF Health personnel, UF/IFAS personnel, and others at locations throughout the state should continue to follow their local government’s guidance and check with their supervisors for information regarding reopening of their work locations.

Santa Fe College

Santa Fe College will reopen on Friday, October 11.

Students who may have difficulty coming back to their classes should reach out to their instructors to notify them of their situation. Additionally, students can access TimelyCare, which provides 24/7 access to physical and mental wellness assistance.

Employees who may have difficulty coming back to the college should reach out to their supervisors to make them aware of their situation. Teledoc (Opens in new window) is available for our employees on the college’s health care plan to offer additional assistance as needed.
