Qualified Duke Energy Florida customers can get help with bills

Press release from Duke Energy Florida

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – As the summer season approaches and energy usage reaches its peak, Duke Energy Florida reminds customers of its Payment Assistance Finder, a tool to connect customers with bill assistance.

How it works

Customers can provide their ZIP code and browse organizations in the area that may be able to provide assistance. Once an organization is identified, the customer can reach out directly to receive assistance.

Community partners and organizations include LIHEAP, the Salvation Army, local housing authorities, and more. Customers are encouraged to seek help early to find the best option that fits their needs.

“When a financial hardship happens, it can be a challenge to know where to turn for help,” said Melissa Seixas, president, Duke Energy Florida. “The Payment Assistance Finder is meant to be a tool that brings all available resources together to help customers find the best solution that fits their need.”

More ways to save this season

Making small adjustments around the house can bring savings on summer bills.

  • Adjust the A/C temperature: The smaller the difference between the indoor setting and outdoor temperature, the less energy an A/C system uses to keep the home comfortable.
  • Change ceiling fans to spin counterclockwise: As the weather warms up, adjust ceiling fans to spin counterclockwise to push cool air down into the room.
  • Close blinds during the day: Use blinds or window coverings during the day to prevent unwanted heat gain in the home.
