Remedy opens veterinary clinic in Gainesville to make pet care affordable for all

Press release from Remedy

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Remedy, a nonprofit veterinary clinic operated in partnership with the Atlanta Humane Society, has opened its doors in Gainesville with a clear purpose: to make high-quality pet care accessible and affordable for every family. The new clinic is located at 104 SE 4th Place.

At Remedy, we see firsthand the deep bond between pets and their people, and the heartbreak that comes when families can’t afford the care their animals need. Across Gainesville, more and more families are being forced to make impossible choices. Veterinary costs are rising, and without affordable options, pet owners who are struggling financially may feel they have no choice but to surrender their beloved animals.

The data shows just how urgent the need is. In Alachua County alone, 9.4 animals enter shelters for every 1,000 residents. Statewide, nearly 8,000 more cats and dogs entered Florida shelters in 2023, with save rates slipping to 82%. The pressure on shelters is growing, and the need for community-based solutions has never been greater.

Remedy was built to be that solution. By offering care at cost, not for profit, we provide a thoughtful range of services that help keep pets healthy and at home. Comprehensive exams are just $45, and core vaccines start at $25. It’s the kind of care we believe every family deserves, delivered with compassion and transparency.

“We don’t believe anyone should have to choose between their pet’s health and their financial stability,” said Emma, Community Engagement Assistant. “At Remedy, we’re here to support families through affordable care that strengthens our entire community.”

Remedy invites the Gainesville community to connect with our team, hear the stories of families who’ve been able to stay together with their pets thanks to affordable care, and learn more about the growing need for accessible veterinary services in our region.
