Reminder: District 2 Town Hall on Thursday, January 30

BY JENNIFER CABRERA

The City of Gainesville is holding a Town Hall meeting this week, during which residents will get updates on city projects and have an opportunity to engage with their commissioners.

The District 2 Town Hall, the second of four district-specific meetings, will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Senior Recreation Center. Updates will be provided about Wild Places Public Spaces projects, including the Hartman House at Hogtown Creek Headwaters Nature Park, the Howard Bishop Middle School Recreation Area, Northside Park, and Springtree Park.

The Department of Mobility will talk about the future of transit in District 2, and Gainesville Fire Rescue will talk about fire stations and the department’s activities in District 2. Gainesville Police Department representatives will also be there.

Residents will be able to ask questions and interact with city commissioners and staff. The town halls are one of several changes made last year by commissioners to improve communications and engage with residents outside of City Hall.
