GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A new chapter has begun in the heart of Gainesville. The fully renovated Gainesville Lodge and its signature coffee and cocktail concept, Twist, are now open — bringing fresh energy, thoughtful design, and a vibrant social hub to one of the city’s most iconic properties.

Located in downtown Gainesville at 413 W. University Ave., and just steps from the University of Florida and Santa Fe’s downtown campus, the 39-room boutique hotel has undergone a complete transformation. Originally built in 1962 as a Travelodge, the property has been reimagined into a modern, design-forward destination that honors its mid-century roots while delivering a high-quality guest experience.

Every room has been beautifully renovated from floor to ceiling, featuring warm wood tones, curated artwork, premium linens, and elevated finishes designed for both comfort and character. Guests can choose from Deluxe King and Double accommodations, each crafted to feel intentional, inviting, and distinctly Gainesville.

At the center of the experience is Twist Coffee & Cocktails, a dynamic, all-day concept open to both guests and the public. By day, Twist serves locally roasted coffee and espresso drinks from Gainesville-based Strong Tree Coffee, paired with fresh baked goods. Twist also offers dirty sodas, which are drinks consisting of soda “spiked” with cream, flavored syrups, or fruit juices. By night, it transitions into a lively cocktail bar featuring signature drinks, premium wines, local and imported beers, and a unique selection of light bites.

The property also features a newly designed outdoor patio area with lush landscaping, shaded seating in the cabana, and flexible gathering spaces, creating a natural setting for everything from casual meetups to private events.

To celebrate, Gainesville Lodge and Twist will host a Grand Opening Event on April 16th from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., featuring tours of the property, specialty drinks, and collaborations with local partners
