Ribbon-cutting at Oak View Middle School celebrates new addition

NEWBERRY, Fla. – Today the Alachua County School Board hosted a ribbon-cutting at Oak View Middle School in Newberry. School Board Chair Tina Certain (pictured below) thanked the residents of Alachua County for their investment in public schools via the half-cent sales tax.

The Blue and Gold Panther colors were incorporated into the design of the addition by Kail Partners, a local architectural services firm. Construction services were provided by D.E. Scorpio. Owner Domenic Scorpio (pictured below with his project leadership team) was on hand saying, “It is nice to have a collaborative process providing a tool for student success and to provide it under budget and on time!”

The 22,000-square-foot addition adds 16 new classrooms and a collaborative learning center.

The ceremony lasted about 20 minutes, followed by a student-led tour.
