Road and Traffic Impacts for September 16-23, 2022

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Below are the updated City of Gainesville traffic impacts scheduled for September 16-23, 2022. 

New Notices

NW Second Street: The 1000 block of Northwest Second Street will be closed for the completion and paving of GRU wastewater work.

NW 17th Street: Northwest 17th Street will be closed between West University Avenue and Northwest Third Avenue from Friday, Sept. 23-Sunday, Sept. 25 from 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m. to allow for the installation of one-way pairs pavement marking and bicycle lanes.

W. University Ave.: The eastbound lane (curbside lane) of West University Avenue from Southwest Third Street to Main Street will be closed from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 19 for tree removal.

Clark Butler Blvd.: There will be an outside lane closure on Clark Butler Boulevard (south and east bound) just past the northern driveway of Walmart. This is for water main relocation work in preparation for upcoming roadway work for the Clark Butler Boulevard/Southwest 62nd Boulevard extension. The lane closure is expected to be early in the week (Monday to Wednesday).

Clark Butler Blvd. / SW 24th Ave.: There will be a lane closure on the south leg in the right turn lane expected to begin Wednesday, Sept. 21 and continue through Friday, Sept. 23. This is for water main relocation work to prepare for the upcoming roadway work on the Clark Butler Blvd. / SW 62nd Blvd. extension. 

Continuing Notices 

NW 36th Avenue: The intersection of Northwest 36th Avenue and Northwest Eighth Street will be closed for GRU wastewater maintenance work from Sept. 12-28.

SW Fifth Avenue: The 4000 block of Southwest Fifth Avenue in the Sugarfoot Neighborhood remains closed to allow GRU to make repairs.

SE Second Place: Southeast Second Place between Main Street and Southeast First Street through October 1.

SW Ninth Terrace: Southwest Ninth Terrace will be closed between Southwest First Avenue and University Avenue due to the construction of a new development. Construction is expected to last through August 2023.


All lane and road closures are subject to change due to unforeseen conditions, such as inclement weather.
