Safe Kids North Central Florida offers free car seats, thanks to grant from Children’s Trust

Press release from Safe Kids North Central Florida
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Safe Kids North Central Florida is proud to announce it has been awarded a $3,000 grant from the Children’s Trust of Alachua County, marking an important milestone in the coalition’s continued growth and funding efforts.
This funding will directly support Safe Kids North Central Florida’s ongoing outreach initiatives, including the distribution of free car seats and educational materials at monthly fitting stations and large-scale community events. One such event is the upcoming Healthy Heroes for Kids Day this weekend, where families will have access to critical safety resources and hands-on education.

Car seats are available at no cost to eligible families living in Alachua County who participate in programs such as WIC, Medicaid, SNAP, and other qualifying assistance programs, helping reduce barriers and ensure more children travel safely. To receive a car seat, caregivers must schedule an appointment and attend a 30-minute, one-on-one educational session with a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician.
The Children’s Trust’s investment represents a strong and growing partnership with Safe Kids North Central Florida, with both organizations sharing a commitment to preventing childhood injuries and promoting safe, healthy environments for families across Alachua County.
“In just three short years, our coalition has grown from four members to nearly forty,” said Safe Kids North Central Florida Coordinator Jordyn Zyngier. “This grant from the Children’s Trust allows us to expand our reach and continue our mission, ensuring that caregivers and children have access to the resources and support they need, when and where they need it most.”
“We are proud to support initiatives that meet families where they are,” said Children’s Trust of Alachua County Executive Director Marsha Kiner. “By providing car seats, education, and essential resources, we are helping build a healthier and safer community for all children.”
