Seven transported to the hospital following I-75 crash

Today at 5:07 p.m., units from Alachua County Fire Rescue and High Springs Fire Rescue responded to a vehicle accident on I-75 at the 399 mile marker northbound. Upon arrival, crews found between 6-8 vehicles involved in an accident, with the cab of a semi fully engulfed in flames. Crews were able to extinguish the fire within 5 minutes of arrival. A total of 9 patients were evaluated and treated on scene, with 7 of those being transported to area hospitals. The cause of the accident is under investigation and luckily no lives were lost. Alachua County Fire Rescue would like to remind all drivers to stay alert and don’t text and drive.
