Sheriff seeking missing and endangered person

On August 13, 2021, at approximately 4:30 p.m., ACSO responded by phone to reports of a missing, possibly endangered person. The complainant stated that her son, Godfrey Dawson, was missing, and that his caretaker in Ft. Lauderdale took him to the Greyhound bus station, to travel to Alachua County. The bus ride was nonstop, and Dawson departed on July 31, 2021. According to his caretaker, he was last seen wearing a black leather jacket, blue jeans, and red/white shoes. Additionally, Dawson was sent to Alachua County with no cell phone or means of contact.
His caretaker also stated that Dawson left his group home in Ft. Lauderdale, heading to Alachua County to see family and his father’s home, and that he was to return home within a few days. Attempts to locate him have been negative. The most recent contact with Dawson was on August 2, 2021, in Archer. Checks of both North Florida and UF Health have turned up negative results. Family members have also reported not seeing Dawson.
